Auto Accidents

Mid-Atlantic Spinal Rehab & Chiropractic is able to accommodate patients involved in Baltimore auto accidents. Many local providers are unable or unwilling to treat patients involved in auto accidents. Dr. Marc Gulitz has extensive experience in the rehabilitation and treatment associated with auto accidents. Dr. Gulitz holds an advanced certification of competency from the Spine Research Institute of San Diego where he studied the principals behind spinal trauma, whiplash, and mild traumatic brain injuries.

There are many ways to pay for your care when injured in an auto accident. To determine which benefits may be available to you following an auto accident in Baltimore, either obtain a copy of your auto insurance declarations page or contact your insurance broker.

Here are some common coverages available to people injured in auto accidents in Baltimore:

Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Coverage: PIP is available to pay for care regardless of who is responsible for causing the Baltimore auto accident. It is usually written in amounts of $2,500 $5,000 or $10,000. While it may be waived while purchasing auto insurance, most patients elect to carry $2,500 in PIP. This money is used to help pay for care following an auto accident and is also used to help pay for short term lost wages if you take time off from work as a result of your injury.

Medical Payments (MedPay) Coverage: This is less common in Maryland but functions similarly to PIP. The benefits are used to pay for medical and chiropractic care associated with injuries sustained in an auto accident. There is no wage-loss component to MedPay. It strictly covers care.

Third Party Lien: In instances where you did not cause the auto accident and the other driver’s insurance company has accepted responsibility for your injuries Mid-Atlantic Spinal Rehab & Chiropractic will treat you for your injuries and will wait to receive payment for your treatment until your claim is settled. Upon termination of care you will be provided with all of your medical records and bills at which point and you can submit them to the at-fault third party insurance company. In instances where you do not receive compensation for your injuries you will be responsible to pay for your therapy upon termination of care. Many local offices in Baltimore will not allow patients to treat on a third party lien. Mid-Atlantic Spinal Rehab & Chiropractic is different and welcomes the opportunity to accommodate patients looking to explore this route.

Attorney Lien: This is similar to a third party lien, except the injured party has hired a personal injury attorney to represent his/her interest. Generally your attorney deals with all of the paperwork and communications with the other driver’s insurance company while you focus on treatment and recovery.  Many patients find that personal injury attorneys are good resources for them while treating for a Baltimore auto accident injury since these attorneys can explain the process of recovery and since their attorneys can guide them and help them determine all potential benefits (third party limits of liability, uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, PIP, etc.) available for compensation during and following treatment.

Without a doubt navigating the waters of auto accident injury and recovery can be confusing. It is hard to make a good decision when you are in pain or are being medicated. If you have any questions regarding payment for care associated with a Baltimore auto accident do not hesitate to call us at (443) 842-5500. We would be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

Workers' Compensation

For people injured on the job, workers’ compensation may be the only option for treatment. According to the State of Maryland Workers’ Compensation commission, injured employees must have suffered an injury while working and the injury must be an “accidental personal injury arising out of and in the course of employment.” In these instances, medical and chiropractic bills for treatment are paid for either by your employer’s Workers’ Compensation insurance or directly by your employer. While many patients that are treating for a Baltimore workers’ compensation injury have a lawyer, it is not required for treatment in this office.

If you have any question about how treatment for your work related injury will be covered, please do not hesitate to call us at (443) 842-5500. We would be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

Health Insurance

Even patients that have not suffered from acute headaches, neck pain, or back pain can seek chiropractic therapy for their aches and pains. Most local health insurance plans are accepted at our chiropractic office. Because there are so many insurance plans out there, and because coverage for chiropractic care varies widely and changes frequently, please call us at (443) 842-5500 to find out if your plan covers care in our office. Before you start a chiropractic care plan, our staff would be happy to verify your benefits and explain them to you at no charge.

Here is a list of the health insurance companies that we are currently in-network with:

BlueCross and Blue Shield: All Plans
CareFirst: All Plans (BlueChoice requires a referral)
Cigna: All Plans
Johns Hopkins EHP
United Healthcare

If there are other health insurance plans that you are covered by and would like us to accept, please contact us and let us know. We would be happy to credential with these companies in order to better serve you.

Non-Insured/Self-Pay

Our goal at Mid-Atlantic Spinal Rehab & Chiropractic is to allow everyone with spinal complaints to experience the benefits of chiropractic care in Baltimore. For patients who have little or no chiropractic insurance coverage, we can work with you to arrange a flexible payment program that fits your budget. If you have no insurance or if your insurance does not have any chiropractic benefits, there are still ways for you to receive the pain relief and chiropractic care that you need. Many patients choose to pay directly for their visits with the chiropractor, especially once they discover that chiropractic care is actually extremely cost-effective and affordable. For these patients, chiropractic care is often less expensive and more effective than alternative pain treatments such as pain medications or invasive surgery.

We are able to accept cash, checks, debit and credit (Visa, MasterCard, Discover).

If you have questions regarding what an initial visit or subsequent follow up visits would cost please call our billing department at (443) 963-3150 or the main office phone number at (443) 842-5500. We would be happy to answer any questions that you may have.
